To enable automatic updates of Linux packages
set up the yum repository for the RHEL/CentOS distributions,
or the apt repository for the Debian/Ubuntu distributions.

To set up the yum repository for RHEL/CentOS, choose the corresponding
<literal>nginx-release</literal> package from the list:

This package contains yum configuration file
and a public PGP key necessary to authenticate signed RPMs.
Download and install it, then run the following:
<programlisting>
yum install nginx
</programlisting>

Alternatively, a repository configuration can be added manually
without installing the <literal>nginx-release</literal> package.
Create the file named <path>/etc/yum.repos.d/nginx.repo</path>
with the following contents:

[nginx]
name=nginx repo
baseurl=http://nginx.org/packages/OS/OSRELEASE/$basearch/
gpgcheck=0
enabled=1
</programlisting>

Replace “<literal>OS</literal>” with “<literal>rhel</literal>” or
“<literal>centos</literal>”,
depending on the distribution used, and “<literal>OSRELEASE</literal>”
with “<literal>5</literal>” or “<literal>6</literal>”,
for 5.x or 6.x versions, respectively.
</para>

In order to add repository signature checking and to eliminate gpg warnings during
the installation on Debian or Ubuntu, it is necessary to import nginx signing key
into apt keyring. Please download <link url="http://nginx.org/keys/nginx_signing.key">
nginx signing key</link> from our web site, and add it to the apt keyring with the
following  command:
<programlisting>
sudo apt-key add nginx_signing.key
</programlisting>
</para>

<para>
For Debian 6 append the following to the end of the
<path>/etc/apt/sources.list</path> file:
